You Pay For What You Get

Thursday, December 27th, 2007

Yes.. my grandmother had always said that.. and we being Asian truly believes in it. So when we needed a Civic Radiator we went to look for one not in the retail store or a shop because we shop only at the one who can give us the best price in radiator and genuine and quality parts. Plus you and I know that by buying genuine parts, you get the warranty of a lifetime.. for its part and labor.

Carrying the widest selection of Honda radiator online has got to be the best thing that we Honda owners are pleased and happy to find. Since I don’t know how to install them, I get directed to the right people for doing it. And if the man feels like challenging himself, he can find some very informative and helpful articles about it online. No middleman .. so no exorbitant prices to pay.

Melting of The Artic Ice Cap

Thursday, December 27th, 2007

icecaps.jpg

Inland ice seen from a helicopter. Arctic ice melted at record levels in 2007, alarming scientists and raising alarm bells around the world.

No. 1 Weather story in Canada.  So what does it all means to us.. the layman..??  Should we be very worried..and frightened right now..?? what can we do.. to stop it from happening..?? or slow it down.  I know that the thinning and shrinking is largely because of the warm years but am not really sure about it besides that.  I really think it is everyone’s duty not to be ignorant about stuff like that.  One or two group of people fighting for a cause like that.. wouldn’t make a difference… so we should be educated about it.

It Doesn’t Pay To Play Nice

I bought the local papers yesterday .. and saw that our store was on the front page .. and had kindly wrote to the local paper if we can have an electronic copy .. for this blog to show everyone .. :) Unfortunately, after several emails back and forth, I got this email this morning from our dear Vanguard.

“Hi: The photos are the property of our company and scanning them and republishing them without our permission is a violation of copyright/pwnership laws.”

JOY..!! I have taken down all pictures related remotely to Vanguard.. even though I had given credit for photo source all the time. In the future.. i ain’t gonna be so honest about stuff. I see no harm in using the photos and all.. but it’s just sad.. that ppl love to resort saying and writing stuff .. like that.. which is not necessary. Plus I am not buying Vanguard anymore .. from now on.

We Are On Front Page

Thursday, December 27th, 2007

Yes..!! we are on the front page of our local papers here.. Vanguard.. but nope.. not exciting happening.. ;) but it was kinda cool.. to be buying the papers.. and see your store front on the front of the local papers. I’ve emailed to Vanguard for an electronic copy of it.. and if they do send it to me.. i’ll post it here for everyone to enjoy.

Property Investment

Thursday, December 27th, 2007

Investing in any kind of property is a very expensive business but lucrative. My grandmother used to say that the only thing worth investing in, are properties. And she would know because her very first investment was on a $26K landed property house in Singapore.. which is now worth at least 3.5 million. Yes you heard me right.

There are lots to the 1031 Exchange than meets the eye and as investor, one should know all of your your investment .. and how to make the best out of it .. and work for you. I hear that the IRS Code Section 1031 is one of the single greatest wealth building tools available for the real estate investor, allowing one to defer the payment of capital gain taxes when selling an invetment property and exchanging to another. Very useful information if you ask me.

GST Down Too..??

Thursday, December 27th, 2007

Good and Services Taxes are going down by 1% .. so Canadians will only pay 13% in GST starting from next year. From 1st January 2008, Canadians in Nova Scotia will be paying 13% instead of 14% in HST and GST. Joy..!! one percent reduction..!! yipppeee..!! we can all now have a ball.  Ya.. ya..! i’m been sarcastic .. but you can’t blame me.. when we are paying so much in taxes.. for those . .that donch wanna work.. and claims unemployment.. at the slightest unhappiness.. and the best part is . .the unemployment office allows it.

To Open Or Not To Open

Wednesday, December 26th, 2007

On boxing day..? Yah..! we have been wondering and pondering if we should be opened or not.. but since all the other stores.. and the big boo ha . .from the town.. about not opening this Boxing Day.. we’ll have to skip our social function today.. and go open the store.. and see if we can make some money. Many years ago… Boxing Day was one of our best days.. for sale. But ever since all the big boys opened.. it didn’t work for us anymore.

Vandals Torched Christmas Tree

Wednesday, December 26th, 2007

Yes..! what a shame.. ! that some kids would torched the Christmas tree in Argyle..! Looks like i can’t even call them kid.. for the newspaper reported that they are three young ppl.Police had apprehended three young people suspected of involvement in burning the tree, those present for the Dec. 11 council session – and those who would later see it on cable television – were told.

A Little Of Everything

Tuesday, December 25th, 2007

When PB started his business, it was a clearance center whereby we buy pallets of goods from a place in Niagara Falls, on closeout sales and returns from big departmental stores around Canada. It was quite amazing and amusing to be honest, to see all sorts of things come into the store, and PB would sort them out.. and re-sell them, we had from food choppers to vacuum cleaners and air-cons that came in the pallets. Some are in perfect condition .. while others, well. .they just needed a little tweaking. In fact the vacuum cleaner that we have been using for years now .. for our home and the store came from one of those pallets. Interesting were those days and PB had liked that kinda stuff.. but there were just too many people in this town, who would take advantage of the fact that we were selling used stuff, and tried to take advantage of us.  So we gave up on doing that.

Merry Christmas.. Everyone..!!

A Gift In Return

Sunday, December 23rd, 2007

A couple of weeks ago, I posted on PPP’s forum about how I would love to do something as a group for Izea/PPP team. Not just me.. but calling out to all posties who if not for Izea/PPP, wouldn’t have gotten ahead with their bills, and many other luxuries that we couldn’t afford. Don’t get me wrong, I am not saying that Izea/PPP is God.. but if you and I have been posties, you will know what I am talking about.

“Christmas is just round the corner.. and as posties.. we’ve all been thru’ alot lately. I am sure you know where i am coming from. But we have to give credit .. where credit is due.. and we’ve never had a more hardworking and dedicated team.. than Ted & his team. Sure we have had our ups and downs.. etc.. etc.. etc.. but is there something we can do for these folks..?? to show them .. we really appreciate them..??I do.. but if we can make it a team effort.. with as many posties . .doing it.. it would be great..! what say you ..??”

Seriously speaking, I’ve never met someone as nice, genuine and a matter of factly way as Ted Murphy. Never putting anyone down.. in any written articles or conversation. As for the team, yes .. i know we have our ups and downs.. and teething problems.. but I know for a fact that they are doing their best. Yes.. i’m very proud to be a PPP postie and in the past 7 months, I feel alot more useful than just helping my spouse with his business. I’ve made my OWN money.. since coming to Canada. It feels really good and I’m sure alot of bloggers out there .. know exactly how I feel.

Anyhow.. coming back to doing something for Izea/PPP team, Postie homeschoolZoo came up with a great suggestion about donating to a charitable organization picked by Izea/PPP team. And yes.. Ashley from PPP informed me this morning, that they’ve picked Habitat for Humanity. Read A Generous Gift at IZEA’s blog. Like my grandmother used to say, always give back to society, so here.. posties… this is your chance to give back to society, give generously, give whatever you feel comfy with, give because you have been given. Give for the nice folks at IZEA/PPP .. if you have ever had something done for you by the team.. irregardless if it was Ted or anyone at IZEA/PPP .. GIVE..! Trust me.. IZEA/PPP has done alot for me… but that’s for another post.

I thank you all .. from the bottom of my heart.. for all those donating or planning to donate. This is the best Christmas I’ve had.. because I’m able to do something back for the people who have done stuff for me.. and made my life a better/more meaningful one.

Calling For Systems

Saturday, December 22nd, 2007

The last few days.. had been crazy. . just fielding calls and helping people find their last minute gifts. Till today, I still received calls for game systems.. like for the Gamecube, PS2 and xboxes. Yes.. it is crazy.. coz’ all these are older systems.. and never had it occurred to us that it would be in demand.

We didn’t buy alot of used ones.. just because these systems are so old.. one would think that ppl would be looking for a Wii only. But nope.. customer/s were calling for Gamecube and older movies.. and older games. Not the usual trend .. but who could have known right..? Not easy to have business acumen I tell yer.

Special Hobby

Saturday, December 22nd, 2007

My great grandmother was a very old-fashioned person. For someone who passed away .. when I was about 19 yrs old.. or there about… everyone seems surprised that my great grandmother .. the maternal side could speak in English .. and watched Doris Day and Elizabeth Taylor shows, not forgetting Marilyn Monroe. I guess that was how I too got acquainted to these stars.

Marilyn Monroe was my great grandmother favourite .. she called her “the woman of the century” .. and rightly so as we can all see now. Even to this very day.. Marilyn is still very, very popular in our heart. I wished i was a wee bit older then . .to help her collect those wonderful memorabilia of Marilyn, if there were any available at that time. Until today, I cannot understand how she kept up to her hobby.

Afterall, checking out the authenticity is very important, and there is really no substitute for a die hard fan of her. I wonder how she did it..?? If she had used company like Millionaire Memorabilia, then of course she wouldn’t have to worry because they certainly take pride in the unique products and the quality besides the authenticity of the memorabilia. Plus they have excellent customer service and i found something that my great grandmother would have like to have in her collection at a very affordable price. And this Christmas, I cannot help but think of her.. and all her very special collectibles.

A Natural Business – Neptunes Balance

Saturday, December 22nd, 2007

The product we are going to be promoting to Asia.. Neptunes Balance.. had been featured locally here in the Commerce Magazine. James Wood the Managing Editor of Commerce Magazine wrote a very good article on Neptunes Balance. Unfortunately, I haven’t had the time to contact him yet.. to feature his article on my blog… but I will after Christmas… when we are not so busy.

An extract of his interview with Darrell Challoner: “We found a way to extract nutrients from the ocean,” says Challoner. “There are two shells that are organic and have organic calcium in them, so what we’ve done is found a way to activate and extract them, which is what we’ve patented. When you spray the solution on any surface, it leaves a thin film of calcium that creates a silky feeling.”

More on it .. when i get permission to put this in public. Are you excited for us..?? this may be your answer to all your mozzie problems in Asia.

Just A Little Help

Saturday, December 22nd, 2007

The holiday season is here.. and after Christmas, we have the New Year celebration. For some of the fisherman around here, they are still waiting for the price of the lobsters to go a little higher before selling it off to the exporters. So a little help is great to tide them over the season and celebration, afterall, one do need to buy gifts for at least the children.. and put a full table of food on Christmas eve for the family right.

A payday advance works great for these fisherman, for they can pay off the loan on the next payday with interest involved of course. But it’s a hassle free application, and the loan gets deposited directly into your bank. You can apply for it online or by phone. You can feel quite safe taking a loan from these people because they are licensed individually in each state and you are protected for sure.

Sold Out Of Systems

Saturday, December 22nd, 2007

It’s a few more days before Christmas.. but we are totally sold out of all systems.. except for PSOnes. It’s crazy..!! coz’ had we known earlier.. we would have stocked up.. but you never know from year to year.. what to expect.

Even a DVD player.. that belongs to the lil’ brat was packed and sold.. to a customer.. who came in looking for one. But of course we are gonna go buy her another one lah. Next year..i think we may have to be more prepared.. but we say this every year.

Business Tax To Go Down

Saturday, December 22nd, 2007

We received a letter this morning from the government of Canada.. stating that the business tax is gonna be reduced next year. I took a quick glance at it.. and put it aside.. and had forgotten all about it. But strange as it is.. for the last 8 yrs.. that i’ve been in Canada.. and in business.. we’ve never heard about tax reduction. I bet .. and election is underway. Muahahhaha!! evil politicians..!

No Way It Was Accidental Buddy..!

Saturday, December 22nd, 2007

Well, apparently the competition that got shut down by Microsoft.. for copyright issues told a customer of his.. that this “mystery” shopper had come into his store and bought a computer from them.. and had asked for Office Pro and the day he was there to pick up his computer.. had turned around at the store..to ask again.. if Office Pro was in it, in which the competition replied he did.

But he turned around and told this customer. . that he had accidentally put in Office Pro.. which in my humble opinion .. or an ignorant one.. that it’s impossible to “accidentally” put in XP or Office Pro or just about anything… into a computer. *shake head* Really ..!! these ppl really think his customer is stupid..??

You would think that owning your own video store.. gets you first hand on all the goodie movies right..? Well.. at first or in the beginning .. it was awesome. But like I said… i still love my chinese movies alot. Anyhow.. one expect the best.. from Johnny Depp and Chow Yuen Fatt right. I started to watch it.. and it was pretty good. If you haven’t seen octopus face.. this is your chance to. Watch it.. it’s pretty awesome..!
