The Things That Customer Says

Friday, December 21st, 2007

In this part of the world… returning something to a departmental store.. within a certain time range to get your money back is a very common thing. Yes.. i’ve seen ppl try and return goods to us.. with excuses.. that are so ridiculous.. you would never believe it.

Today.. a customer came in .. and bought a Diablo Chest.. and after paying for it.. he turned around and said this to PB.. “i can return it in say.. within a week right..? if it is not the right one my son wants..??” As soon as any customer say something like that.. it sends me shooting right up from my seat.. to make sure..that if it is a computer game.. and opened.. he will not be able to return it because I am unable to sell it for “new” and if it was an online game.. lagi .. cannot return.. because the code can only be used once.

Unlike big stores.. we cannot absorbed the lost… and cannot offer the kinda price that big stores offer… yet many a customers.. still cannot understand it. But when they are looking for something special .. and the big stores.. wouldn’t even lift a finger to help them order it.. they would then turn around.. and know how to look for small stores like us.. who gives the customers.. full attention.. and know exactly what we are selling . .and can tell them the ETA of the game/s ordered.

Canada – U.S. Border Crossings

Thursday, December 20th, 2007

For years.. since that fateful day at the World Trade Center, I’ve been hearing about the need for passports for Canadian.. crossing over to our neighbors. Before the 9/11 incident.. Canadians going across any of the borders need only have their driver license with them.

But not yet till 2009 they say now. So if you are crossing by car.. you donch need a passport .. but if you are flying to the States.. you will have to have one.  Wonder what about the Cat..??

“It’s a nice Christmas present for Canadian travellers,” said the CBC’s Henry Champ, reporting from Washington.”

Shocking!

Father who abused girl live online gets four years.

Very shocking..! the girl here was only 4 yrs old.. and this is the real father!!! He sexually abused his daughter.. live online..!! He is a BEAST..!! not HUMAN..!! why should someone like that.. not get life sentence..??

He will only serve 20months in prison.. and 3 years out on probation. How can someone who does this to his daughter.. be let out into the society..?? In my opinion.. this manBEAST is worst than those who swindles .. millions of dollars. It’s is grossed and outrageous..! This in my books is UNFORGIVEABLE..!

A Funny Question

Thursday, December 20th, 2007

Everyone knows that we’ve had our business since 1999 .. ok. .not “WE” but PB .. i’m just the owner by association… and my designation at the store is currently.. “Professional Chair Sitter”. Alright..! so we set the record straight here.

This evening, a customer who came into our store to buy a new game asked PB this question.  “You guys are gonna be here for a while right..?”  Now you tell me .. what would you think and what would your answer be..??  Read more here.

It Gets Cold Awfully Fast

Thursday, December 20th, 2007

“Power crews are busy in the Maritimes in the aftermath of a wicked blast of wintry weather. More than 20-thousand electricity customers were in the dark at one point this morning — 11-thousand in Nova Scotia and more than nine-thousand in New Brunswick. Repair crews have now reduced those numbers to about 45-hundred in Nova Scotia, mainly in Cape Breton. In New Brunswick, about four-thousand homes and businesses are still without power, mostly in the Moncton and Shediac areas. Meanwhile, roughly 200 customers are without power on Prince Edward Island.”

For those who have never lived in cold winter Canada before.. I’ll have to let you know that when power is out.. during Winter.. it gets really cold really quick. Even if you are indoors.. you will freeze if you do not have a woodstove.. or some portable heat. For an adult.. you still can take it for a couple of hours.. but for a kid.. you really have to be careful. We have a portable heater.. that runs by cylinder gas.. that would last us for a good .. 16 hours.. ! we also have a back up system.. and that’s to go to the in-laws. But if the roads are bad.. there is no way.. we can get there. Over the years… PB thinks i am paranoid.. and making sure. .that we have back up stuff.. but i rather be safe than sorry. And this winter.. it looks like it is one of the worst. If anyone wants to migrate.. make sure you choose places like Vancouver.. and not otherwise. Else.. very pitiful..!

I Wanna Be A Cat Too..!

Wednesday, December 19th, 2007

Sometimes, when i look at my friends who have pets such as dogs and cats or even a hamster.. like “hammie” .. that belongs to my daughter’s babysitter, one cannot help but wonder about all the luxury item they get from their owners. These days.. being a cat or a dog is definitely way better than when we were a kid, because they get all sorts of special stuff.. like vitamins, cat furniture, regular visits to the vet, and even special food. I think I wanna be a cat too.. !! they sure have a way better life.. than I did .. when i was a kid..hhaha!!

hell_is_freezing_over.PNG

I assure you .. those beautiful pictures.. of children playing in snow.. is not true..!! The windchill is so bad.. at 70km/hr.. one cannot enjoy the snow..like what the calendars want to portray. The real test is now..!! If you can go thru’ winter. .over and over again. .every year.. for 6 months a year.. in cold winter and windy nites.. and without power at times, then yes.. you will survive migrating.. and marrying “ang moh”. But donch you forget .. heat is costly.. and unless you and your man is making great money.. you can expect to heat up the room you are in only… and not the whole house. Thus.. you buns will be cold.. and even your glasses will freeze.. and drop out.. when it is really cold.

Last Wii

Tuesday, December 18th, 2007

We just sold our last Wii system.. at our store.. and it’s crazy.. ppl are paying a $50 extra.. just to get one this Christmas..! And the gal who got the last one.. sounded like she strike lottery or something. She was so excited.. she couldn’t wait to swipe her credit card fast enough. She didn’t care how much it was.. she just wanted it..! $363.66 was what she paid for. Now if only we had gotten some Guitar Heroes to sell this Christmas.. we would have been able to retire..!! I kid you not..!

Refurbished & Cheaper

Tuesday, December 18th, 2007

We own a computer store and the funny thing about refurbished stuff is people tend to find fault with it.. when it doesn’t want to work for them. To be honest, it is usually the people who is at fault.. not the refurbished item. Used cisco or pre-owned routers works just as great as any new ones, and before we even sell used items, we test them all out, yet we do have folks coming in complaining about it. But when shown that it works perfectly in our store, they do look kinda sheepish.

$1,447 Just On Gifts

Tuesday, December 18th, 2007

Wow..!! spending an average of $1447 on holiday gifts is what Canadians do… every year. Do you spend as much .. on holiday gifts..?? I think some do.. but after having the brat.. we rarely spend that much anymore. Firstly, because we have no time for Christmas shopping.. and always does it last minute.. and secondly, now that we have the brat.. we have to think also of her future… thus we try to only spend what we must.. coz’ Christmas is just over-rated.. like most holidays. And gifts should be thoughtful.. and not just bought because to give face. What about you ..?? how much do you spend on family and friends.. and not forgetting the enemies too.

Blizzard Heading Eastern Canada

Monday, December 17th, 2007

“A massive blizzard that slammed into Ontario and Quebec, dumping mounds of snow, disrupting air travel and causing treacherous driving conditions, was expected to hit the Atlantic provinces next.”

Looks like it is not over here either..! the wind started to pick up at about 10pm yesterday evening.. and it has been going on .. harder and louder. I hope we donch lose power.. man..!! now that would suck .. big time..! And no going to work for PB if the roads are bad.. ! no way am I gonna let him open the store..!  I know he can be stubborn at times.

Huge ATM network In Medina’s Agenda

Monday, December 17th, 2007

Medina Management Strategies we hear is in a huge negotiation for ATM network. As you all know Medina is the franchisor for Cuppy’s Coffee and Planet wings and not forgetting specialty coffee, and they are talking about having flush mounted, in-wall ATMs installed in hundreds of franchise locations nationwide. Models include Triton and Tidel. Medina is aiming at Elite Manufacturing (Medina’s preferred building partner) to perform the installations.

This has got to be the biggest deal ever, for Medina. Do stay tune and watch out for further news to see what Medina will announced next and see for yourself if the deal will go through. It is an exciting news for the company, having so many ATMs in all their franchise locations. Surely, it is not only good for the company but for consumers, like you and I as well.  Since it would be so much more convenient.. to have a ATM nearby .. where you need to eat.

Microsoft Only Wanted $20K

Monday, December 17th, 2007

Today. .we heard from a more reliable source that Microsoft only wanted $20K from the other computer store beside us that closed down. I wonder why they went bankrupt.. just for $20K though..?? Really baffles me..! would you try to settle.. ?? instead of going bankrupt.. ?? afterall, not like they donch have the money.

On the same note.. we heard that the other 2 stores that were dinged by Microsoft .. were QuickLink and Nova 5 Star. Not sure if it is true or not… but QuickLink sure closed down quick too. .and took us by surprised. As for Nova 5 Star .. we have no idea. PB has yet to speak with Jim. Once again..! Donch.. play .. play with Microsoft.

Scammer

Sunday, December 16th, 2007

Fella brought in his computer last week.. to have it repaired because his hard drive was dying.. and it was shutting itself down.. as the files must have been corrupted. Didn’t have money to pay for the repair – only $30, so he brought in his gamecube system as a collateral, promising PB to come pick up his gamecube when he got the money.

Yesterday, he called and accused PB of installing a pirated copy of XP .. on his computer, because a update thing from XP kept appearing. But all PB did was used an OEM disk .. and restored whatever the fella got on there. He insisted or hinted to PB that we must produce a legal copy for him.. to fix his problem.. and claimed that he has got a “government” copy of XP. In other words, he was saying his friend BURNT him a copy of that “legal government” copy and that his copy was legal. PB told him that he could bring that “legal government” XP copy .. and will do the work for him for free.

Protect Your Pool Table

Sunday, December 16th, 2007

The man loves his pool table in the recreation room, and we all know .. having pool table covers will help prevent the table from its natural wear and tear that comes along from pool balls, cue sticks and of course just from playing pool on the table. Having any tear on the table, can affect the player and his performance,  so this Christmas.. i am gonna get him one, so he can stop whining and wanting t change a new table.

Driving Safe In The Winter

Saturday, December 15th, 2007

For those of you who are not aware of how our highways and roads are .. in Canada… and the USA, it is dark. We do not have that kind of road lightings as you will have .. if you were in Asia. Yes.. and when i mean .. dark.. it is really dark. Highways and roads out of town depend on their very own headlights for seeing where the road is going. And nope.. i’m sure not kidding. For example travelling on highway 101 to my mother-in-law’s place is totally dark.. and when it’s snowing bad enough.. you can only see total white on the highway.. not because there is street light on the highway.. but because there is just too much snow.

For safety reason, everyone who has a SUV or a truck, should get themselves some driving lamps like those zenon lights, not only are they affordable, they brighten the road ahead for you at night. Provides a horde of light power and range for increasing your visibility to keep you and yours safe. They are world’s premier supplier of performance auto lighting.
