And they justify the increase for commercial rate because it is to offset the declining business occupancy tax which the province is phasing out. But when would it be out..?? They never tell us about it.. yet they want the increase already.  JOY..!

We worked alot on customer’s computer at our store, and we make sure that when they leave the store, their computer is protected viruses like spyware and any other stuff that may attack the computer in the near future and render them handicap.

This town is a fishing town, therefore if you must know .. we do get lots of fishermen for customers. One such person is the wife of a fisherman who had been such a good customer to us. Even with the big boys in town, she still comes to us for just about anything we carry. Tell me how can we not love a customer like that..?? but trying to find a gift for her and her husband every year can be a real task, because they have everything and more.

We decided that this year we will find some nautical gifts for all our customers who are fishermen, afterall, they will definitely know how to appreciate it right. We opened the store late as usual. We blamed it on the kid.. but actually we are quite the slacker too. Anyhow, when our car turned into the carpark.. we saw some customers already waiting outside the store.. so the man quickly parked and rushed into the store. Opened the store.. and I even went to the extend to apologize to the customers who came in after.. and guess what he wanted. He wants to know if he can use our WASHROOM..!!!!!

I cannot believed it..!! there were other stores that were opened on Main Street, there were 4 eateries that are sure to have a washroom .. but he waited for our store .. to be opened..to take a DUMP..!! *roll my eyes*. Well .. i’m sure you know my answer to that question.

Leaders are not born, they are trained.. and motivated and with years of experience and lots of stumbling, then they get where they are today. I used to work for a huge hotel chain back home and leadership training was a big thing because it not only motivates the employees, it also strengthen teamwork within the various departments of the hotel.

I know that these training does help because they were specially designed for those who attended the training sessions. And it did mold my character and helped me be alot more useful and effective in the organization that I was working for.  Plus I remembered it.. and brought it along with me.. wherever i worked thereafter.  I was also able to comprehend and work towards the company’s goals and mission and most importantly the training that I was privileged to attend, also helped me motivate my co-workers in my department, when i was done with the sessions.

Sometimes I really gotta wonder if it is really the town water or what.. that makes ppl stupid in this town. Customer came in as soon as we opened, asked if there was anyway he could trade in his NHL 2003 for another game. “slap my forehead”. In which the man replied we don’t do one to one trade (else how to eat rice) and that NHL 2003 isn’t even worth any money because these goes into our $5 bin .. in which he asked.. if he could get $5 for it… *slap forehead again*. How can ppl be so STUPID..!!! we sell them for $5 and pay $5 for it.. on top of the game would prolly never be sold…??? I officially declared that the water is not fit for drinking .. ppl in this town gets stupid..!

It is often mentioned in our household when we just started working that dressing up and appropriately is very important because one sees and judge you from your outlook before getting to know you better. As you can see .. the new store is very long… compared to our old store… and yes it is smaller… not by much but smaller. But we loved it.. because we are not paying an arm and a leg for heat.

Yes.. ! we sell lots of movies.. DVDs .. about 4000 of them and counting. Not everything is alphabetize but we will get there eventually. For now.. Chloe loves to pull stuff out from the shelves and put it elsewhere. More to follow tomorrow.

I’ve spoken to quite a few customers .. about the new challenge of the post for mayor of this town.. by a Phil Mooney.. and apparently, 90% of the people that I’ve spoken with .. feels that Phil Mooney can and will make changes to this town. The reason for me to talk about this with other ppl who walks into our store.. is to create awareness.. and also I am skeptical .. about the to-be “new” Mayor.

I am pretty sure that he would probably be voted in this October.. but will he be like the old/current Mayor.. who has a ring around his nose.. ?? It does take more than a new mayor to see some “real” changes in this town, I strongly feel that some of the town council members should be replaced. Of course .. who would agree with me..?? As a small business owner.. I haven’t seen any new and good improvement since 2003 and it’s a long time coming i would say. .that someone speaks for the ppl and not for the town councils.. and the big boys alone.

Yes.. i haven’t been really happy for a long time.. about how this town is being run. Everytime i think about it.. and all the money .. they spent.. and sometimes not even being able to justify to the residents of this town.. or worst .. do not announced their meetings to the public.. now that drives me nut. I really try not to think about it alot.. because I am just a business owner albeit just by association.. but i have to think of my daughter’s future… what has the town/country gotta offer her when she is an adult.

Sometimes I wonder if it would be better for this town or country to be run like those from the Stateless Society is talking about. People who believe that such a way of life is not only possible but ideal. We have been governed so long .. by different parties.. and yet we’ve seen so much corruptions.. and all things ugly.. how long more do i want to continue seeing this ugliness..?? Do you feel the same way as I..?? I do almost all the time and the people who runs this town .. drives me nuts.. when they uses the good people’s money to build themselves a mansion.

But can one live in a place without a governing body..?? Is it a bad idea..?? i seriously doubt so.. but i think one would face alot of resistance and there is a huge problem.. with a stateless society .. because as it is already.. there are so many people who are on welfare in this town.. and I would hate to see some lazy people taking advantage of the situation and doing as little as possible to get by in life. For those who are already relying on monthly handouts .. like welfare cheques and anything welfare, would possibly opposed very strongly because they would have to work and contribute in order to survive. Will a self governed society be free of wars..?? I really don’t know.. but at times i do feel that the Amish-style way of life does look alot more appealing .. to me.. than what we are doing now.

We just sold another 10 computers.. and it didn’t cost us a cent.. just storage space. One has gotta love this kinda deal eh..?? The computers belonged to a regular customer.. who had gotten a good deal .. some where ( no .. not stolen goods…! we are sure.. ! ) .. he had wanted to rent our basement.. to store it.. but in the end.. we started selling it for him.. and whatever .. we make.. depending on whether the man needed to work on it or not.. we spilt 50 – 50. No cost and all profit.. ! awesome..!! Now wouldn’t it be nice.. if we get this kinda deals everyday eh.

This is a very small town. Do people really think .. the RCMP don’t know who is dealing and wheeling with drug..?? even I know. 2 drug busts this week.. and 5 people arrested… 3 were our customers.. no wonder he didn’t come in to get his legit copy of AVG that he had already paid for… and the other one.. we knew … was a crook from day 1. Sad, sad, sad..!

We must be the best bosses in the world.. because every summer.. we let our employees go for their holidays first.. and then we go when everyone has taken a break.. and rejuvenated. But it is not always so with employees, because they can promised to come back and work hard.. after their summer break.. but they usually break their promises.. and we end up not going anywheres.. like the time we had planned for our New York City travel holiday. In the end.. we stayed to work for those we had taken ill and didn’t show up for work. The price of owning your own business eh.

A customer was in today .. to buy a S-Video cable from us. By the way, we do sell the cheapest cables in town.. and the reason why we are so cheap.. it’s because the man does not want to rip anyone off .. like Staples and Radio Shack .. now called the Source. Already there is a good profit margin on the cables .. yet places like Staples and the Source, sells them 100% more than us.

Coming back to the customer.. we do have “wonderful” customers. This one wants the man to teach him what to do in order to download movies into his computer..!!!! Eeeellllooo… Buddy..!!! we ain’t gonna teach you how to break the law.. !! ARE YOU CRAZY..!! that’s alright.. if you donch buy the S-Video cable from us.

Yes.. the things the customer/s asked sometimes.. does make you wonder. Some comes in and asked you .. “do you sell computers..??” some asked .. “do you fix computers?” or some asked .. “do you carry usb flash drive?” What’s most bizarre is having someone try and sell you some old crappy ram from 20 years ago for a few bucks. Rams that we don’t even want, ready for the dumpsters. The JOYS of owning your own store.

A customer of ours invited us to a Golf benefit and of course like any business owner.. you take some.. and you give some… you know to keep the relationship going. As a gift when attending the benefit, we brought a gift for our customer and since it was a golf benefit we decided that some Titleist golf balls would be a great idea. And guess what..?? she loved it.. and she sent us a fruit basket the next day. Nice eh..!

Living in a small town of only a population of 8000, there isn’t many ppl that you do not know and of course owning a business in town for 8.5yrs kinda make one a place where people come in and chat about the town.

I am extremely upset today to hear that a man was attacked last night and he died with serious injuries. This happened in a multi-unit apartment building .. meaning the people staying there actually rented the apartments. Not much is known about the attack .. but we hear from customers that 3 men were involved in the attack and in custody. We also hear that the attack involved baseball bats.

Alot of speculation around town at this moment.. some said it has to do with drugs.. while others said .. he was being robbed.  Whatever the reason is.. it still sends a chill to my spine.  It is not safe to live here..??  What kinda future will this town hold for my brat..??  Assaults like this is not new to us.. a few years ago.. during summer.. a group of kids .. had beaten up the hot dog boy for free hotdog  .. and sent him to the hospital with serious injuries.   Disturbing is mildly putting it.

Yes… i was Blog of the Day with my favorite online company .. Izea Inc..! thanks to all who came by.. and to some who left comments.. as well as emails.. and msn. I am truly touched.. you all have been really great. In this very small community, one finds true friend.. from blogging. Some who had been so kind as to send me food from home. I will never forget the kindness shown. Alot of ppl are very nice .. but there are some .. whom I was a fan.. but no longer am now. It’s quite disappointing how blogging can bring out the very ugliest character in some. Isn’t it better to be a good and honest blogger..?? I want to be able to sleep peacefully at nite.. and not have to worry.. about breaking the rules.. or making enemies. Life is too short..! enjoy it.. and be honest.
