A Week Of Absence

After a week of absence in the store.. i finally made it back for a wee bit.  I couldn’t stay long .. for i was still in a lot of pain.  But the little time i was there.. things were still the same.. some ppl were still making ridiculous demands.. some selling stuff.. and some buying.

That goes to show.. that no one is indispensable.  Something did happen at the store.. while i was there.. but that would be for another day.  In the meantime, I don’t think i will be going to the store.. for another few more days.

We Closed The Store

I was such a wuss yesterday.. and insisted that the man go to the hospital with me .. for my gynae appt. It was sudden of course.. they had just called in the morning.. and wanted me to go in the afternoon. We ended up closing the store for a few hours.. more than we had expected.. i felt terrible.. but hey..! i’m more important right..?? money can be earned anytime.. but my health is definitely a priority.

Prolly some customers may not understand.. and so i had asked the man.. to inform the customers this week.. that we might be doing some closing at odd hours.. but of course .. with the man.. that has gold in his mouth.. he prolly won’t say a thing.  His explanation..??  he didn’t want to be telling why .. we had to close .. because it would be a long story.  Yup..!! so let the customers.. come and not get into the store.. and wonder.. !  not my store..!

Victory Hair by VO5

I was the judge.. and i get to ask questions .. and get answers by 2 guys who were playing the game with me. I pick the guy with the best answer or the answer i want.. and wham bam..!! we get our victory hair..! woohoo..! if only it was that easy eh.. in real life. But i did pick up a thing or two about flirting from the game.. so if you are quite shy in person.. this will actually help you … to say the right thing.. at the right time to the gal you had been eyeing on.

Burnt Games & Burnt Anything.. Is ILLEGAL !

We have had people coming into our store.. every now and then. .to sell us stuff which are pirated or what we called burnt stuff. They are not an original.. nor are they legal … yet they try and pawn them to us.. trying to tell us that it works. We know it works.. Buddy..!! but it is illegal..!! surely these ppl must know that anything burnt is illegal .. and has copyright infringement right.. ?? nope.. no way… they still try.. and they still want something outta it. *slap forehead*

Shake that Thing

I’ve been wanting to buy one of those shake LED flashlights for a long time now but I never remember it when I’m out shopping. It seems like whenever I actually need a flashlight the batteries are dead or dying or the bulbs burn out. I have horrible luck that way. These flashlights look awesome though, they don’t need batteries, the LED lights are never supposed to burn out and all you have to do is shake it for a minute to get a half hour of light. They’ve been featured in O at Home magazine and are available to buy online from ecogeekliving.com. Save the environment, save some battery money and save my sanity by having a reliable, easy to use flashlight that never truly dies.

No Free Labour

Just the other day. .when we weren’t in the store.. a customer who worked with some charitable organization came in to ask if we would hire one of their student and we didn’t have to pay for it.  It’s probably like some program .. these people are put into by unemployment.. to equip them for work.  But you see.. for years.. we’ve had been trying to give back to the town.. by hiring ppl who had been on unemployment.. and can never find a job.. or those on welfare .. but as it turns out.. the person didn’t really want the job.. but rather they prefer to be sitting at home.. and doing nothing .. and collecting welfare or unemployment.

PB and I had come to an agreement.. that we failed miserably in this kinda program.. and cannot handle another case of “Miss Evil” or “Mr know it all” .. so we vehemently declined the offer of free labour.. ! even if unemployment pays us.. we are not hiring.  This shows you how we feel about this program eh..?

Office Furniture To Home Furniture

I find it really funny.. when some customer/s would come in and asked to buy our office furniture.. so that can use it as a home furniture instead.  Surely, they can get good home furniture.. at the right furniture store right..?? or are they wondering .. if we would be selling them as used price..??  so if i sell you my office furniture at half its price.. and go buy something for full price.. how does it make sense right..?

Being Polite BackFires

A customer came into our store.. the other day.. and i had asked him.. if he need help with anything.  But you see.. i had said..  “can i help you sir..?? “  he was all  mad with me.. and complained loudly to his girlfriend.. that I shouldn’t have called him sir.. because I was older than him.. *slap forehead*.  Really ..???  i don’t know what to make outta it.. ?? how could i looked older than him..??  i used the top wrinkle cream that are found in the market.. !!!!  But to get all upset because i was trying to be polite..?? *Grrrrrrr…!!*

Behind The Counter

Have you ever wonder why customers would come behind the counter.. without even being invited.. to chat .. or to just walk around.. or when they are trying to sell something.. and PB is testing the system.. behind the counter..??

It irks me big time.. when they come behind the counter.. because they are over-stepping my private place.  But how do you tell someone without offending them.. not to come behind the counter unless you are a staff..??  Headache.. you know.. !

Invitations

Owning a business put you in a position .. where you get to know loads of people .. whether you like it or not.  We get lots of invitations .. especially birthday invitations since we bring our kid to work everyday.   And as much as we would love to attend .. time and the business.. just does not allow us to do so.  Quite sad eh..??  I think it is.. especially since we are depriving our daughter.. of mixing with friends her age.

Traveling With Your Phone

I used to have to rent a mobile phone whenever I am in another country because those days we didn’t have unlocked phone like now.  It was awfully expensive to rent and then pay charges according .. to the rate of that mobile services.. luckily the company paid for it… else I would be in debt by now.

They Don’t Buy From Us

They donch buy from us.. in fact .. they make special order .. and then cancel it.. and a few months down the road.. they come back to our store.. and to try and sell the very same thing that they had special order.. canceled.. and bought from Walmart to us. Now tell me isn’t this ppl from this town strange..?? First you do us an injustice.. and now that you need money.. you expect us to help you out..?? Where got such thing one..??

Our Customers Are Hilarious..!

We had just gotten a phone call from a customer this morning asking if we do cleaning up of xbox. And the man replied that we do for $20 .. in which the customer replied .. if he would take $15 for it..?? *bang my head on the table*

Do ppl even know how much work it is to clean the xbox..?? the amount of things we have to take out.. blast it off .. with air at $10 a can.. and then put them all back together.. and have to make sure that it has to work.. else we can’t charge..?? Hilarious..!!

No New News On New Mayor

After the initial campaign .. announcing that Phil Mooney was running for mayor.. i haven’t heard alot lately. I’m sure he is going around doing his campaign and all.. but for us .. to not even see him yet.. or know what he is doing for his campaign.. sure suxs..! how to you connect to the future mayor.. when you cannot even talk or see him now… when he is not even mayor yet. Makes me wonder.. if all my hopes for a better tomorrow for my child is just wishful thinking.

MP3 Accessories

We have been asked many a times if we carry MP3 Accessories at our store by customers and even tourists that comes to town. Apple ipod accessories seems to be in demand here. In fact, the spouse and I and even our babysitter has our own ipod. And as much as we would love to carry the accessories, it is just not cost effective for us.

We recommend our customers to shop online with SF Planet because they have all mp3 player accessories and more. Not only do they carry Apple’s iPod accessories, you can find Creative Zen, Microsoft’s Zune and Sansa brand as well. From leather cases to traveler’s batteries and they even have the firewall cables as well. They accept all major credit cards and paypal as well.  A pretty awesome site..!

Tax Included

The goods and services tax for Canada is relatively high, at 13% of everything you buy.. it gets add up really fast. But being a business owner.. we wished we can sell something without charging the customer/s tax .. but if we don’t we have to foot out the 13% and as you can see being a small business.. we really cannot do that so often. But customer/s comes in often enough.. and if we insist on charging the taxes.. they won’t buy from us.. so we lose their business. I really wished the customer/s can understand.. that these taxes.. does not belong to us.. but we have to remit this money to the government .. every 3 months.

Employees Benefit

Having been in business for almost 9 yrs now, my only regret is that we took care of the employees more than ourselves. When buying medical insurance, we bought theirs first and didn’t think of ourselves. If i could turn the clock back, i would do it very differently. The way we are set up now.. is excellent. We don’t have to deal with any employee’s grunt or bend backwards to please them.  It is absolutely awesome.. we come and go as we like.. and we even got to take short breaks .. wherelse.. when we had employees before.. they never come thru’ for us when we planned our vacation 6 months ahead. It is truly sad that we do so much.. for them.. and we never got anything in return.

Repair Your Computer On The Phone

I swear sometimes our customer/s must think we can repair their computer over the phone. And that by tell me .. your computer is an Acer would tell me .. what you have in your computer… without looking at it. Yes.. we have many calls like that.. and even though i explained a thousand times.. that i can’t recommend anything till i see the computer or laptop.. they still want to know.. how they can repair their computer over the phone. *slap forehead*
