The election was over more than a month ago.. i am pretty sure. Yet, we haven’t heard or seen the Mayor around. To think I voted for him. Now I’m really disappointed. But of course, yer are gonna say .. “hey.. give the guy a break eh! he is just settling in”. Well.. ok..!! i just wanna note it down here.. so I can keep track.
On the same note.. i’m pleased that Byron Boudreau also a town council that i had voted for .. is deputy Mayor. Nope.. i didn’t want Martin Pink to be the DM .. for a lot of reasons. To the newly elected town councils.. it’s time to step up.. and show us what you plan to do. Accountability.. dudes..!

So I told you about PB getting a subpeona to court right..?? So yes.. we being the good citizen.. and law abiding people of this town.. who already pay so much taxes.. and gets nothing in return went to court at 8.50am. When we arrived there.. we tried to ask the cops who were there.. and they too didn’t know.
Anyhow.. 45mins into court.. the judge called the name of the defendant.. and of course he is nowhere in sight.. and of course the case was adjourned again.. and only when we were leaving court .. did we clued in about what was going on.
Apparently, the defendant’s name.. wasn’t even someone we had met.. it was his g/f who had sold us some break & enter stuff.. from like a year ago. According to the court .. or the cop or his lawyer.. he did not contact them for about 2 months now.. and may not be in town. But let me clue you in on a secret.. that afternoon.. PB saw the defendant.. and couldn’t resist asking him.. how come he wasn’t in court. Guess what he said..?? HE DIDN’T EVEN REMEMBERED THAT HE NEEDED TO ATTEND COURT.
Yup..!! screwed up system. You would think the cops or his lawyers would try and contact him .. a day or two before eh..?? and not waste good tax payer’s like us .. and our time.
PS : I’ll have to say the judge seems like a nice fella.

When you go into someone’s store.. surely you don’t ask certain question right..?? say you go to a pharmacy .. and you buy some diet pill, do you asked the pharmacist if the diet pill works..?? If you see a diet pill on sale.. or one is cheaper than the other… would you asked why this is cheaper.. than the other..?? well.. i wouldn’t .. i would just buy the cheaper one.. as long as the expiry day is good.
But the #1 question at our store is.. “does it work or is there anything wrong with it.. to be at this price..? “ Surely, this ppl don’t really think that we will sell bad or non-working stuff right..?? or do they now..??

While I do not agree with hanging a 20 yrs old for 47gm of heroin he had on him or he claimed was delivering for his boss, I cannot helped but feel that here in Canada.. the law is too slacked. So much so that people are not afraid to commit crime and to sell drugs openingly. If and when they get caught here for trafficking.. all they will get is a year or two in jail (nice housing with free food and tv and even console games) .. and they are out again.
Many Canadians here commit petty crimes.. and do not work.. or go on welfare .. because the law does not come down hard enough on them. If they ever lived in Singapore… they will know that being in jail is not something that you want to be in ever again. Trust me.. !! i know what i am talking about.
Lich King was officially releasesd on Thursday .. and we had thought that there will be a line up at our store before it is opened. With so much hype about it.. i’ll have to tell you .. i was really disappointed with the response. Being a small store .. we encouraged all our customers to order in advance.. and pay a deposit for it. But those that had paid.. didn’t come.. or called on the said day .. to say that they can’t afford to pick it up.
As you can see we had gotten the games a day earlier.. but we had to sign like a few pages of contract .. to say that we will not release it before the 13th November. Luckily after so many years in business.. we also smarten up lah..!! instead of ordering all the copies.. that ppl had asked for, we under ordered.. so that we won’t be stucked with too many copies. Afterall, the big boys like Walmart and Staples are gonna have more.. and cheaper than us. We can’t beat the prices.. and i just wished .. the locals here understand.
I’m sure you’ve heard me talk about the new Justice Center in this town and how it has gotten delayed and delayed over and over again. So instead of the foreseen disclosed budget of $9 million .. it is now at $15 million and still counting. Even the local papers are now saying that they are over budget and behind schedule.. and still not opening till next year. The Justice Center in Yarmouth, is not made of steel buildings and to us in town or the ppl here is the biggest joke. All the money poured into the new justice center.. and they can’t even have the building up and running and it has taken more than 2 years.. surely something is not right here.

Every year i asked the man if he wants to prepare some kind of appreciation party for our customer during the Christmas season with some holiday appetizers and cocktails to thank our customers for their support. But yu can sorta guess as much that over here.. they don’t really do that kind stuff. On one hand i can understand why because we don’t want just to give free food to just anyone on the street .. but on the other hand, i think it might be good for our image. Anyhow, this year we are going to be more busier since the kid is in school and more birthday parties and celebrations to attend, i doubt the man want any extra work.
The law enforcement ppl in this town is certainly a wonderful bunch to be around. First they want to visit you at home at 8.30pm.. even though you already told them.. you are putting your kid to bed… and that it was a business matter.. so shouldn’t they be visiting us at the store.. and had some courtesy .. not to come over to our house .. at nite..?? given that we are the witness..!!! and not the one being prosecuted.
On top of it.. they don’t know what the subpeona was for.. what case.. nor anything about it.. because he was doing it for another officer. JOY..!!! and then.. he told us.. that a warrant of arrest would be issued if we didn’t turn up..!!! WTF..???!!!!??? LIKE WE WERE THE ONE .. IN TROUBLE..!!!!!

We have plenty of customers who comes into our store to buy new games .. and consoles as soon as they are available. Some would love to upgrade their computers.. but not wanting to let their girlfriend or wife know about the “real” cost of the stuff they buy. I can fully understand the reason why the g/fs or wives wouldn’t be too happy. But boys will always be boys.. they are just a big kid inside them. And I’ll bet their girlfriends/wives would love for them to join this contest, the fess up contest for all their secret buys.
If you have a boyfriend whom you think had been hiding some secret buys or upgrade of the computer from you .. now is the time .. for you to encourage them to join .. and they might even win the grand prize of $15,000 for the best story or video they make. It doesn’t have to be something bought in the store, online shopping is acceptable as well. C’mon .. hurry up and join the contest and win big before Christmas. It’ll be fun .. just to find out what they had been hiding thus far.
We don’t get very many tourists in our store because we are an electronic store. Even though we sell console games, they don’t want to buy it from us just in case something is wrong with it when they go home. I can fully understand it of course because i wouldn’t want to deal with having to contact a shop from another country .. to get back a few bucks. But scrapbooking business is another thing altogether and I know the tourist loves to buy stuff from this gift shop in town. In the summer, we often wonder if we should have been in the scrapbooking business.

I guess you probably guessed as much .. without me having to write a lot in here to tell you what happened. About a week ago, i had a lady come in and literally told me to shut up.. in my own store. A few days ago, Katelynn had a customer come in and crushed the above game in front of her.. and threw it at her face.. nearly scratching her face.. with it. All because it wouldn’t work for him.. and he refused to wait for the boss to come back to buff it up for him. Man..!! it’s hard having a business in this town.
Everyone is out shopping for Christmas now..! yes..! this early ..!!! and i don’t blame them at all. I know I should start soon too because there and take advantage of the sale offered at buy.com, for they do have lots to offer. From electronics to consoles, jewelries and watches and even DVDs. Shopping online is easy and the fastest way to get all your Christmas shopping done and you can do it anytime you want, no shopping hours restriction at all.
