An Intriguing Tale Of Being An Owner

We have been getting in lots of digital cameras but not enough sd card for our customers.  Everyone who was interested in buying a digital camera.. wanted one with an sd card.  Why can’t they buy the camera from us… and go elsewhere for the sd card i asked PB.. in which he replied.. they probably don’t want to spend so much money .. for the sd card .. afterall, a previously used digital camera is half of what  you would pay for new here. The other thing that is most wanted here is a Wii .. so if anyone got a Wii.. let me know.

About 1.5 weeks ago, i had called the high school here to inform the principal that Chinese New Year was just round the corner and if he would like me and the Chinese restaurant owner to collaborate with them.. to cook up a reunion dinner for the foreign students here.

The principal had said that he was gonna get the foreign student coordinator to contact me.. and sound very enthusiastic about it.  As you all know.. Chinese New Year is a huge deal.. for us Asians.. and I had explained this to the principal.  Till today.. Chinese New Year is over.. i’ve yet to hear from the school.  I guess .. like the town. .they don’t really care too much.  I’m sad and devastated.. that the teachers and the so – called nurturers of the next generation is so “tidak apa” .. showing no respect for the foreign students culture nor their well-being.. since they are away from home so far.   I don’t need the best diet pills while staying here in this awesome town… and if you want to know if you should send your kids to this part of Canada to study.. please don’t ..!!!

You spend so much money to send them here.. and what do the school do..??  BOCHUP..!!!  better off.. in the school elsewhere.  If you are about to send your kids here .. please write and let me know.. and i’ll let you know which school not to send them to.

This time of the year, if you ever go to Cuba, you would think that you probably landed in the wrong country. . or the Canadians owned Cuba.  Yes, the worst time of Winter.. is the time where all Canadians flocked to Cuba.  Travel medical insurance are highly sought after by the people here.. and I tell yer not all the Canadians are smart enough to think of that. But i make sure.. all our customers who are heading that way knows about the benefit of it. Just because we can leave the store.. and go holidaying.. doesn’t mean that we have to be selfish about what we know eh.

We have been shoveling the snow where the doctor’s use as doorway for their prayer’s place.. because the entrance is just next to our store.  And like any good neighbour, knowing that they are not always there.. we shovel for them.  A few days ago, I had left message for our family doctor .. about the snow situation. .and that it would be nice to leave some salt for us to salt it for them.  A few days later.. no response.. !!!  Oh well.. guess who isn’t gonna shovel for them no more..  ???  no prizes for guessing correct.  Where is their social responsibilities eh…?? a bunch of doctors.. and no manners..!!

The other most common question we get asked besides .. “does it work?” on the items that we sell at our store.. is “is there anything wrong with it?”  Either people are just not trusting.. or they think we are crook.  For the 9 years we’ve had been in business.. we run it as honest as it can get.. but every other time, we get a question like that.  Sometimes, i wanna laugh.. but sometimes.. it pisses me off.  Of course .. it works..!!  else we wouldn’t have bought it in the first place.. !!!!  and of course there is nothing wrong..   else we won’t sell it.. darn it..!!!  if you donch wanna buy previously used gadgets.. or consoles.. why come to our store..??  And like any electronics.. it can die on you .. even before you bring it home.  So what’s the diff..?? of course we warranty our things.. if it doesn’t work.. c’mon..!!  *shrug*

We received a call from a parent who warned us that her kids .. or those of her friends would be down to our store .. trying to sell us some games and a console.  She told us not to buy it from them.. in which the man said “ok”.  Apparently, they were bought for them during Christmas by the parents.. and they didn’t want them to sell it..??  the story given were along those lines.  Had i answered the phone.. i would have told them to please control or stop your kids.. not us..!!! our doors are opened for business.. surely they donch expect us to tell them how to run their household right..??  Got meaning or not..?? yer tell me..!

The man had asked if we should move to Digby . . since we had been having good sales with the ppl coming from Digby.  Digby is about 45mins to an hour away from where we currently are.  I don’t mind Digby in the summer.. but I really won’t know what to do . .in the winter there…. well, besides running the store.  Not ideal of course .. during 6 months long winter.  If i were to move.. it had to be somewhere warmer.. and more vibrant.. the Outer Banks foreclosures are a good example, else i would suggest back home to Singapore.  But what about the business..?? the man asked.  Yah.. Singapore donch deal with pre-used games.. they do burnt games/pirate games.. and movies.  *sigh*  .. no win situation eh..?

Sometimes.. i feel like I am too good for myself, the darn weather being so bad most days.. with snow and all.. it is the responsibility of business owners to shovel their front doors and its surrounding areas.  But this snow fall instead of just shoveling my own snow.. i had to shovel the neighbour’s.

These ppl are not just your ordinary shop owner.. they belong to a reputable group of big business in financing.. but yet.. they refused to pay someone to clean the snow.. or do it themselves.. *shake head*.  Sure i can ignore them.. but whoever walked passed their store.. brought along their snow as well.  *sigh*.  If the staff don’t know the bylaws.. then the person in charge should know you would think..?? but nope.. don’t care about whether ppl would trip or not.. and just play dumb.  if the snow turns into ice and some slips and fall and break their back.. now who is gonna be responsible..?? and where is the town regulator..?? how come he didn’t do his job..??  the snow hasn’t been shoveled for 2 days now.

An ex-employee told someone that had he not left in bad terms .. he would have loved to come back to visit the kid at the store.. since they got along so well when he was working here.  In which the boss/spouse replied .. all the bad terms came from him. .and not us.  During the last days days of his work at the store.. we still treated him well .. yet the things he said just to be on unemployment.  Luckily, unemployment didn’t believe him.. and of course he became bitter about it.  There are some who actually did get their unemployment.. and i’m truly sad for this person.. because there was no need of it, if you want to be lazy and draw unemployment… just tell us the truth.. and we can easily “lay them off” .. no biggie .. *shrug*

We own a video store as you all know.. and yes we rent and sell adult movies .. if you must asked/know.  Truly what’s the big deal about it right..?? you have it on cable.. and you get it online.. or even on TVs in certain channels after certain time of the night in certain countries.  But when you hear yer customer asking if we have any PC games in our adult (porn) room, I wanna tell him.. no .. we don’t but we have term life insurance instead.  I guess he would then feel the same way as I did.. when he asked that question.

We have been asked many a times if we buy or sell jewelry at our store.. but you and I know that Designer Jewelry are for the experts and not for just people who loves buying jewelry. And since I love quality jewelry so much, you bet i know where to get good ones at affordable prices.

I’m quite fussy when it comes to designer jewelry because I love buying them to give as gifts to friends and customer/s of our business.  And one really don’t want to be embarrassed by giving something that is less desirable nor something you, yourself wouldn’t wear or buy it. Now if only we can go back to barter trading.. maybe we don’t have to pay taxes eh.. ?? hahahhaha!! wishful thinking..!!  Another business came to our store to give us business, we didn’t charge him for the work done for him.. because he had done work for us previously and didn’t charge us.  It was really great.. no paperwork.. no trails.. and just outta the goodness of each other’s integrity of doing business.  You scratch my back.. and i scratch yours.. now if only all businesses are like that.  And yes.. we had been busy.. not only at work.. but at home front.  Hopefully, now with the kid in a new school.. we might get some peace knowing that she is in good hands.
