An Intriguing Tale Of Being An Owner

In our many years in business, we get to hear a few of this threat … but we have yet to see any cops come in of course.  Many years ago, we already have this policy about no cash refund .. exactly for ppl like them .. who only wants to buy certain things for the weekend.. say – a speaker.  And after the weekend party, they want to return it for cash.  Not only do they want cash back and not even pay for the rental of it – some even become abusive when we refused to do anything for them, when the speakers come back busted – from blowing the speakers.

Today, again we had one of this brilliant ppl in our store and yes, again, she threatened me about callking the cops on us because the boss had said 30 days warranty.  But I’m pretty sure that the boss had explained that our warranty consisted of exchange or a store credit and no money/cash refund.  I cannot help but snigger when the girl walked out of our store .. and threatened me and my store that if she doesn’t get her cash back, she was bringing in the cops and for the record or for all it’s worth .. she wasn’t even the one who bought it from us in the first place.  It must be the water here..!! that makes some ppl so irresistable !!

We meet many kind of ppl at our store, there are the doctors,  there are those from the hospital undergoing treatment for  Mesothelioma cancer,   there are the office workers, there are the everyday and regular guy oin the street, there are the professionals and of course there are some of our favorites .. where they don’t care how much things are .. and just buys them. .and never gives us any problems.

As a business owner, we see all kinds of kids coming into our store, and we vow never to do the stuff that we see done at our store by other kids and their parents.   Why..?? because it is common courtesy to respect someone else’s things.. and it is what you teach your kid NOW – that actually helps them to become what kinda grown ups .. they become. Also did you know how your kids behave .. reflects on you ..?? as a parent..??  But shouting at your kid in the public is also a NO-NO .. that reflects badly on you as a parent.. and also .. your kid is gonna be shouting at you too.. in public if you embarrassed them now.  Don’t think they are young.. and don’t know anything.. they know more than you think.

Good parenting means being firm.. but respect your kids as well.

About a week ago, the spouse had written the below to the town because we are very concerned about what is going on and what we are not seeing.

NEED I SAY MORE..??!!!??

This country has gotta be the busiest when it comes to voting.  It’s the federal voting this time though.. but having voted last year for the town and its town council .. and see that it didn’t really make a real difference .. i really donch wanna waste my time. Like all parties.. they promise you just about anything.. before they get into politics.. after they are in there.. you never hear nor see them.  So nah.. i’m not gonna waste my time.. and closing the store .. to go vote.. for someone who probably wouldn’t come by at all to see you .. during the time he is in office.

One of our worker’s family member??? has what we call huge, huge, huge bum and she is only in late teens.  Having a kid is not the reason for not taking care of oneself – that is a darn lazy excuse in my opinion.. but how do one tell them the truth..?? without offending them.  Can one recommend some diet pills that work without having them jump all over you for being rude…??   Normally, i wouldn’t care.. but since it is someone we know.. i thought it would be nice to tell her.. because it does get harder .. to lose those unhealthy sight.. if you know what i mean.  But she is totally happy with that look.. so what can you do eh.

Yes.. !! you heard right..!!! the municipality of Yarmouth is concern about YMCA expansion plans.  Of all the things that had been happening in this town.. one would think that the expansion .. and the money that the town will be forking out to help the Y.. would be the least to worry about .. ????  Afterall, didn’t they just built a mega yacht for like  $100K .. and how many “mega” yacht docked so far..?? ONE..!!!  and how many ppl are gonna benefit from using the Y..????This town is unbelieveable you know………….!!!!  So what if the Y loses money..???  it benefits so many ppl..!!!!  what is going thru’ their mind.

While i say i like  – like 90% of our customers.. there are one or two each month.. who just seems stoner than ever.  Yesterday, someone came in to buy a movie.  The cost was 24 bucks + taxes (it’s Canada)!  when i told them that it was like 28 something.. the man who was with the lady customer said i was a crook to try and charge him taxes .. for a used movie.  That it was against the law.  He also claimed that we had signs saying.. taxes included – in which he pointed the Rent movie sign and then he pointed at the tv shows for sale (prices as marked) – therefore he said .. he should get it for price as marked without the tax… *slap forehead*.  I was so shocked from what he said.. it was ridiculous.. !!! that i didn’t really wanna go on with him.. that i had forgotten to ask him… are you stone.  He went on to tell me that i had broken the law..!!!! muahahahahahha!!!  that is way too funny..!!!

Fellow bought a game from us yesterday. After 24hrs .. returned it .. and claimed it didn’t work.  We exchanged one for him.. and an hour later.. came in to say that it has gotta be his machine.  So we offered him a store credit.. that way he can go fix his xbox first.. and then get a game later.

In which he replied he wanted his money instead .. and that he had to go to work.  ???!!!!???  what has a game you bought .. gotta do with a game..??  Very suspicious right..?? that he needed money to get to work..?? so what is he trying to say..?? played the game already.. and now needed the money .. to get drugs or go get booze.. so come out with stories like that..??  what the*$##$%38(()###!!    I really need a vacation at Westgate before i start hitting someone with a baseball bat.

Ppl are very strange in this town.  A few years ago.. i make the spouse go loan some money to a customer.. who said.. she needed some money to get toilet papers and food for her kids.. because her basement got flooded.  When welfare check came.. she didn’t come pay us back..  we had to hunt her down.  *slap forehead*

Ppl would come into our store.. and try to sell us stuff.. when they still owe us money for ripping us off.. by not bringing a movie or several games back on time.  Some keeps them for a few months.. and owe us as much as $50 for lates.. and still got the cheek.. to come sell us stuff.  They must think we don’t know.. or trying to take us for a ride.  Well, you know what..??  for ppl like that.. instead of paying our usual.. we usually pay them much less.. or worst.. donch buy from them.. ever again.  But donch get me started on why… the boss still do good stuff .. and help out those who had ripped us off before.

Just a min ago, someone walked in.. with a bunch of things to sell.  We just open our store for like 20 mins.. and the min we came in .. someone was in to sell us stuff already.. and this fellow was the 2nd.  He walked in .. and asked if we would buy the stuff from him.  He then explained.. that when it was new.. it cost him like $100 – so he asked if we would pay .. $60 for them.

Lets just do the math here.  New – $100, he wants to sell us $60.  So if we paid $60 for it.. how much can we sell it for .. since they are used..??  did he expect us to sell it for $100 .. plus we don’t even know when they will sell.

So we offered him $35 .. and then asked for $40 .. in which .. the boss said .. nah.. only $35.  And here is how it goes.. we buy for $35 .. we can only sell it for 20% more.. and that’s it.. any more than 20% .. you can sit on your investment .. for about a year maybe.. and what kinda interest would i have to pay for that year..???  if you get what i mean..??  so no.. we don’t make tons of money .. everyone.. so lets be fair to us eh.

There are just some ppl .. whom you don’t even want their money .. knowing that they are either crazy.. or had been ungrateful or unreasonable towards you .. in the past.  But these ppl got no shame.. or something.. after what they did to us.. they still dare show their faces .. in our store.

Today.. one such person came into our store.  She must have thought i was smiling at her.. when i went to get coffee.. and saw her with another customer.. whom i liked.  Freak that…!! even if she had a million bucks to give me i won’t be smiling at her..   why..??  she called immigration on me.. when i first arrived here in Canada.. and claimed that she was fired.. because the boss (my spouse) fired her to hire me on .. the illegal immigrant.  And what had i done for her..??  loan her money .. when her b/f ran out on her.. and her daughter.. so that she can pay her rent.  Make the boss send her home.. when it was snowing bad.  Let her bring her kid to work, if she can’t find the sitter.  Never even fired her .. when she didn’t show up for work.. because she claimed her b/f was gonna kidnap her kid.  *slap forehead*.  Gave her a bonus.. even though she only worked 3 months before Christmas.   Because of ppl like her.. i lost confidence .. in treating anyone good first.

Luckily, only 10% of our customers are this way.. else I would have moved home to Singapore.

Fellow came into the store.. and asked the boss if he had any PS2 for sale.. the boss told him. yes.. and it’s at $79.99.  In which that fellow replied.. that he wanted to sell his.  The boss asked him what does it come with..?? he replied.. on the machine .. and he was looking to get $200 for it.  *slap forehead*.  What are ppl thinking..??  when one can get one for new at $139 + tax..??  so if we paid like $200 for his used one… how much are we supposed to sell it for.  I think this guy needs colon cleanser for his head.
