When It Doesn’t Make Sense

It really doesn’t make sense at all.. !! and with alot of sadness i am writing this. The tri-county regional school board is slashing jobs. 24 teaching positions and 18 jobs at the board’s office. They are doing this they said to maintain a balanced budget. But the teaching positions are so important.. and they shouldn’t be cut at all. We already know that we are not getting enough teachers.. so why this..?? why can’t we save on “other” things.. and not this..?? Does the 24 teaching positions cost 3 million..?? How is this gonna affect our children..? your children..??

Bizarre Customers

We opened the store late as usual. We blamed it on the kid.. but actually we are quite the slacker too. Anyhow, when our car turned into the carpark.. we saw some customers already waiting outside the store.. so the man quickly parked and rushed into the store. Opened the store.. and I even went to the extend to apologize to the customers who came in after.. and guess what he wanted. He wants to know if he can use our WASHROOM..!!!!!

I cannot believed it..!! there were other stores that were opened on Main Street, there were 4 eateries that are sure to have a washroom .. but he waited for our store .. to be opened..to take a DUMP..!! *roll my eyes*. Well .. i’m sure you know my answer to that question.

Brilliant Customer

Sometimes I really gotta wonder if it is really the town water or what.. that makes ppl stupid in this town. Customer came in as soon as we opened, asked if there was anyway he could trade in his NHL 2003 for another game. “slap my forehead”. In which the man replied we don’t do one to one trade (else how to eat rice) and that NHL 2003 isn’t even worth any money because these goes into our $5 bin .. in which he asked.. if he could get $5 for it… *slap forehead again*. How can ppl be so STUPID..!!! we sell them for $5 and pay $5 for it.. on top of the game would prolly never be sold…??? I officially declared that the water is not fit for drinking .. ppl in this town gets stupid..!

A Stateless Society

Yes.. i haven’t been really happy for a long time.. about how this town is being run. Everytime i think about it.. and all the money .. they spent.. and sometimes not even being able to justify to the residents of this town.. or worst .. do not announced their meetings to the public.. now that drives me nut. I really try not to think about it alot.. because I am just a business owner albeit just by association.. but i have to think of my daughter’s future… what has the town/country gotta offer her when she is an adult.

Sometimes I wonder if it would be better for this town or country to be run like those from the Stateless Society is talking about. People who believe that such a way of life is not only possible but ideal. We have been governed so long .. by different parties.. and yet we’ve seen so much corruptions.. and all things ugly.. how long more do i want to continue seeing this ugliness..?? Do you feel the same way as I..?? I do almost all the time and the people who runs this town .. drives me nuts.. when they uses the good people’s money to build themselves a mansion.

But can one live in a place without a governing body..?? Is it a bad idea..?? i seriously doubt so.. but i think one would face alot of resistance and there is a huge problem.. with a stateless society .. because as it is already.. there are so many people who are on welfare in this town.. and I would hate to see some lazy people taking advantage of the situation and doing as little as possible to get by in life. For those who are already relying on monthly handouts .. like welfare cheques and anything welfare, would possibly opposed very strongly because they would have to work and contribute in order to survive. Will a self governed society be free of wars..?? I really don’t know.. but at times i do feel that the Amish-style way of life does look alot more appealing .. to me.. than what we are doing now.

Drug Busting In Town

This is a very small town. Do people really think .. the RCMP don’t know who is dealing and wheeling with drug..?? even I know. 2 drug busts this week.. and 5 people arrested… 3 were our customers.. no wonder he didn’t come in to get his legit copy of AVG that he had already paid for… and the other one.. we knew … was a crook from day 1. Sad, sad, sad..!

Ellllooo … Buddy..!!

 

A customer was in today .. to buy a S-Video cable from us. By the way, we do sell the cheapest cables in town.. and the reason why we are so cheap.. it’s because the man does not want to rip anyone off .. like Staples and Radio Shack .. now called the Source. Already there is a good profit margin on the cables .. yet places like Staples and the Source, sells them 100% more than us.

Coming back to the customer.. we do have “wonderful” customers. This one wants the man to teach him what to do in order to download movies into his computer..!!!! Eeeellllooo… Buddy..!!! we ain’t gonna teach you how to break the law.. !! ARE YOU CRAZY..!! that’s alright.. if you donch buy the S-Video cable from us.

Yellow Crime Tape

Living in a small town of only a population of 8000, there isn’t many ppl that you do not know and of course owning a business in town for 8.5yrs kinda make one a place where people come in and chat about the town.

I am extremely upset today to hear that a man was attacked last night and he died with serious injuries. This happened in a multi-unit apartment building .. meaning the people staying there actually rented the apartments. Not much is known about the attack .. but we hear from customers that 3 men were involved in the attack and in custody. We also hear that the attack involved baseball bats.

Alot of speculation around town at this moment.. some said it has to do with drugs.. while others said .. he was being robbed.  Whatever the reason is.. it still sends a chill to my spine.  It is not safe to live here..??  What kinda future will this town hold for my brat..??  Assaults like this is not new to us.. a few years ago.. during summer.. a group of kids .. had beaten up the hot dog boy for free hotdog  .. and sent him to the hospital with serious injuries.   Disturbing is mildly putting it.

Job Suicide

If you leave your previous working place in not so good terms.. and never ever go back and visit for whatever personal reasons .. or keep in touch with your boss.. like once a year.. then do not put him or the company down for your future reference. Burn the bridge on your own.. and still put them as reference only means one thing. JOB SUICIDE..!! it cannot be that hard to understand.. and piece a few logic together eh..?? Lesson learned from the owner by association of a business.

i Sold It

You find just about anything on eBay. The man also do sell some of the old systems that we get from customers to resell them on eBay just to get a few bucks more. A few years ago, when the xbox 360 first came out during December, nearing Christmas, we had customers who had lined up outside Walmart, just to get one to be put on ebay to sell. At $1200 for one of the first xbox 360 in the market, he did make some money over eBay.

Now you don’t even have to do all the work online yourself, by bringing your stuff that you want to sell to iSold It on eBay, which is a eBay drop off chain with stores open across the U.S. and other countries whole wide. I’ve checked.. and they even have a store in Canada. Simply drop off your stuff, and they will sell it for you .. easy peasy. Once the item is sold, you can then go back and collect your money. Plus they do keep you posted via email as soon as your item/s is listed. Follow the auction from the comfort of your own home and sit back, relax and have a cup of tea or coffee.

Defunct

Not the business.. but this town. Jakes a regular pizza place .. opened for many years.. and was taken over by new owners. Now no longer operating due to various reasons.. but why isn’t the town helping folks like that..?? instead of spending money on those that already have money..?? like the Canadian Tire ppl who wants the town’s money for building some canopied stalls for the Organic market.  And it looks like they are getting the money too..!  I want some money too.. for my business..! so who am i to go to..??  I’m sure previous owners of Jakes wants some money too..!!

Gas Prices Never Regulated

Drivers are paying more to fill their tanks today in most of the Maritimes. In Yarmouth regular self-serve is selling for A dollar-34.8 cents a litre.

If it ever was… it didn’t benefit us at all. A year or so ago.. we were like paying $1.09 per litre.. ever since they insisted on regulating the gas prices.. it has been nothing but heart pain to everyone. Already it is so hard to keep up with bills.. and food.. yet gas prices never went down. So why did they regulate it..?? for whose sake..?? The standard of living is high.. earnings are low for the ppl.. no wonder .. the younger generation are moving outta this town.  But what do the old farts do..??  they build bigger compounds and building .. to wait for retirement.

The Selling & Buying

You wouldn’t believed how many people come in to sell stuff at our store these days. With the other video store officially closed now, we see alot more of their customers coming to us.

Usually i donch even bother to listen to the man .. and the seller who wants to sell stuff.. but there are times.. when i cannot but have to intercept .. because certain ppl you know that the things they bring in can be stolen. As much as they would swear high and low.. and on their mother’s grave.. you just can’t buy anything from these ppl.

Some we’ve even caught red-handed selling us stolen stuff.. and when we confronted them.. all they said was.. “oh .. is it..??” and give you the blank look. Yes.. that’s what this town is all about.

I’ll Work In 2010

A customer was in today and we got into a conversation.. about work in this town. She had mentioned that the minimum wage is going up in May and by 2010 .. minimum wage would be by then $10 an hour.

8 yrs ago, when i first arrived in Canada.. the minimum wage was like $5.50 per hour and PB had paid one of his first employee $7.50/hr and when we had asked her to dress appropriately to work (she wears torn sweat shirt to work), she said.. she could and would if we paid her more. Yes.. that was the attitude we got.

Now this customer told me today.. that she was going to go on welfare.. if she cannot find any work that she liked and paid well.. .or she will only work in 2010. *slap forehead* Pray tell me I am not destroying my daughter’s life.. by bringing her up here.

The Saga Of The 17″ Monitor

The saga of the 17″ monitor continues. If you haven’t read about it yet.. check here. Well.. after several weeks.. and more excuses.. and $40 worth of rental for the monitor, read this. Today, he came in again.. to tell PB that he will be seeing his mother this weekend..???!!!??? didn’t he say this.. like a few weeks now..??? WTF..!!!! i swear i am gonna blow up really soon on this customer..!!! old son or not.. he ain’t getting away with it .. for much longer. Come Monday..or the next time i see him.. i’m gonna tell him off if he doesn’t either .. bring me back my monitor or buy the freaking monitor..!!

A Visit From HR Dept

Woken up at home yesterday by someone from the HR Dept as they were doing some audit for payroll .. for our store. But he had gone to our old store.. and found us closed.. so they came by our house instead..!! HOLY MOLY..!!! can you imagine.. if we DID really closed down the store.. you mean.. they are gonna hunt us down still..??? GOSH..!! donch see the police being so persistent when ppl ripped us off.. or when we wanna collect restitution.

Joke Of The Week

Wait a min..!! let me die laughing first..!!! OMG ..!! this town is full of it lah..!!! It was announced this morning that the correctional facility (jail) in this town is gonna double its capacity from 38 inmates (jailbirds) to 76. Thus, they need to bring in portable beds to turn single cells into double cells.

Going to jail here is a luxury..! back home.. about 7 - 10 person sleeps in a cell together.. and on the floor. No toilet.. nor washing facilities.. nothing..! no wonder ppl back home donch wanna go to jail. But here .. !! they are making such a huge boo ha.. over nothing..!! no wonder .. ppl are not afraid of going to jail at all.

How Can One Compete With Walmart?

Yes.. ! exactly my question..! how can one compete with Walmart..?? Scouting for a notebook, we checked with our regular supplier for prices.. and taking a walk to Walmart and Staples .. we found that they offer even better prices than my suppliers. So how can small businesses like ours.. not close down.. for good..?? how do you a single person . .compete with the big boys..?? No way man..!

What Can We Really Say..??

Remember a few weeks ago, i had written that a customer had come in to loan a monitor.. to see it was his monitor was busted or his computer. Turned out it was for his mother.. and turned out.. we still haven’t gotten our monitor back. Customer keeps giving one excuse after another.. and finally today.. he came in to say. .he was gonna collect it from his mom AGAIN this Friday ( he had been saying that for a few weeks now) and gave PB another $20 for renting the monitor. And the way he put it across to PB was like .. he was doing us a favor.. *slap forehead* wonderful ppl.. wonderful town..!

Holy Moly! The Pizza Place Is Gone !!

Oh boy..!! you wouldn’t believe it.. but yes.. we drove by the pizza place in town. .and it was gone. On the door it said.. tenant was locked out . .because rent wasn’t paid. Wierd..!! Seriously, i can’t see that happening.. because we do know the owners .. and they are decent ppl, i guess we just have to hear it from the horse’s mouth .. the next time we see them. Seeing them closed down this way .. is making me darn worried. I really wonder what the real reason is… because they only just acquired this business like 6 months ago.. 8 months top.

Another Business Closed..?

A customer was in to let us know that some business in town went outta business because they couldn’t pay their rent. Well.. the source wasn’t so reliable.. so we didn’t say very much… plus we didn’t really noticed anything.

This evening.. we took a drive past the said store.. and yes.. the inventory was all gone..!!! shocking..!! because the owner of the store is our neighbor.. and we didn’t hear not a thing from him. Wonder what happened there..?
