We Closed The Store

I was such a wuss yesterday.. and insisted that the man go to the hospital with me .. for my gynae appt. It was sudden of course.. they had just called in the morning.. and wanted me to go in the afternoon. We ended up closing the store for a few hours.. more than we had expected.. i felt terrible.. but hey..! i’m more important right..?? money can be earned anytime.. but my health is definitely a priority.

Prolly some customers may not understand.. and so i had asked the man.. to inform the customers this week.. that we might be doing some closing at odd hours.. but of course .. with the man.. that has gold in his mouth.. he prolly won’t say a thing.  His explanation..??  he didn’t want to be telling why .. we had to close .. because it would be a long story.  Yup..!! so let the customers.. come and not get into the store.. and wonder.. !  not my store..!

Burnt Games & Burnt Anything.. Is ILLEGAL !

We have had people coming into our store.. every now and then. .to sell us stuff which are pirated or what we called burnt stuff. They are not an original.. nor are they legal … yet they try and pawn them to us.. trying to tell us that it works. We know it works.. Buddy..!! but it is illegal..!! surely these ppl must know that anything burnt is illegal .. and has copyright infringement right.. ?? nope.. no way… they still try.. and they still want something outta it. *slap forehead*

No Free Labour

Just the other day. .when we weren’t in the store.. a customer who worked with some charitable organization came in to ask if we would hire one of their student and we didn’t have to pay for it.  It’s probably like some program .. these people are put into by unemployment.. to equip them for work.  But you see.. for years.. we’ve had been trying to give back to the town.. by hiring ppl who had been on unemployment.. and can never find a job.. or those on welfare .. but as it turns out.. the person didn’t really want the job.. but rather they prefer to be sitting at home.. and doing nothing .. and collecting welfare or unemployment.

PB and I had come to an agreement.. that we failed miserably in this kinda program.. and cannot handle another case of “Miss Evil” or “Mr know it all” .. so we vehemently declined the offer of free labour.. ! even if unemployment pays us.. we are not hiring.  This shows you how we feel about this program eh..?

Office Furniture To Home Furniture

I find it really funny.. when some customer/s would come in and asked to buy our office furniture.. so that can use it as a home furniture instead.  Surely, they can get good home furniture.. at the right furniture store right..?? or are they wondering .. if we would be selling them as used price..??  so if i sell you my office furniture at half its price.. and go buy something for full price.. how does it make sense right..?

They Don’t Buy From Us

They donch buy from us.. in fact .. they make special order .. and then cancel it.. and a few months down the road.. they come back to our store.. and to try and sell the very same thing that they had special order.. canceled.. and bought from Walmart to us. Now tell me isn’t this ppl from this town strange..?? First you do us an injustice.. and now that you need money.. you expect us to help you out..?? Where got such thing one..??

Our Customers Are Hilarious..!

We had just gotten a phone call from a customer this morning asking if we do cleaning up of xbox. And the man replied that we do for $20 .. in which the customer replied .. if he would take $15 for it..?? *bang my head on the table*

Do ppl even know how much work it is to clean the xbox..?? the amount of things we have to take out.. blast it off .. with air at $10 a can.. and then put them all back together.. and have to make sure that it has to work.. else we can’t charge..?? Hilarious..!!

Tax Included

The goods and services tax for Canada is relatively high, at 13% of everything you buy.. it gets add up really fast. But being a business owner.. we wished we can sell something without charging the customer/s tax .. but if we don’t we have to foot out the 13% and as you can see being a small business.. we really cannot do that so often. But customer/s comes in often enough.. and if we insist on charging the taxes.. they won’t buy from us.. so we lose their business. I really wished the customer/s can understand.. that these taxes.. does not belong to us.. but we have to remit this money to the government .. every 3 months.

Employees Benefit

Having been in business for almost 9 yrs now, my only regret is that we took care of the employees more than ourselves. When buying medical insurance, we bought theirs first and didn’t think of ourselves. If i could turn the clock back, i would do it very differently. The way we are set up now.. is excellent. We don’t have to deal with any employee’s grunt or bend backwards to please them.  It is absolutely awesome.. we come and go as we like.. and we even got to take short breaks .. wherelse.. when we had employees before.. they never come thru’ for us when we planned our vacation 6 months ahead. It is truly sad that we do so much.. for them.. and we never got anything in return.

Repair Your Computer On The Phone

I swear sometimes our customer/s must think we can repair their computer over the phone. And that by tell me .. your computer is an Acer would tell me .. what you have in your computer… without looking at it. Yes.. we have many calls like that.. and even though i explained a thousand times.. that i can’t recommend anything till i see the computer or laptop.. they still want to know.. how they can repair their computer over the phone. *slap forehead*

Selling Time

It has been 2 hrs .. since we opened store.. and there were at least 5 people come in to sell stuff.. and only 1 bought something. Usually .. when the weather is this good.. we get alot of ppl trying to sell their stuff to us.. for abit of money. It’s not really a bad thing.. because if ppl donch sell.. we donch have any thing to re-sell eh.

Holding Stuff

???????? ????? ????????As a business owner.. we try to please everybody.. and if you asked me or my staff to hold something for you .. we always do. But experience have taught us… that if there was another person wanting to buy the exact same thing that we were holding for someone else.. we have to sell them. The likelihood of the person coming back for it.. is almost slim, especially if it is after 3 days. So if you ever go into a store.. and ask them to hold something for you .. make sure you tell them .. when you are coming back.. else .. don’t blame them for not holding it for you. Afterall, we need to pay bills eh.

This Town Makes Me Laugh Hard

Customer came into the store.. and asked PB to look out for another customer who might try to sell us a PS3 machine. He claimed that he was robbed.. and that the system was stolen from his house.. when he had a party just the other day. And I had to laugh so hard.. because you see.. not too, too long ago.. it was this customer.. who had taught the supposedly accused to steal from stores in town.. because they were then underage.. and even if they do get caught.. they would only get slapped on their wrist. Karma..!

Web Callback

As a small business owner for the last 9 yrs, we try every way to boost our sales and to create awareness to our store/business with advertising, word of mouth and of course having a website of our store on the world wide web. But we also know that even if the information were on the web for potential buyers/sales, you have to make sure that you are reachable and not just a phone number away.

Bad Customers Do Not Change

We have many customers who would come in .. and wanting to set up new accounts when they are told that their old account under their mother’s/father’s/g/f’s/ex-wife’s name has an outstanding balance on it. In order to rent another movie or game.. they would have to first pay up .. for the outstanding. In plain english.. it means.. “YOU OWE US MONEY..! PAY UP!”

Usually these ppl owes us for a long time.. and if i were to set up him/her up another account .. i know history will repeat itself. No way.. was I gonna do that. We ain’t no suckers.. BUDDY..!!

Computer Upgrades

You’ve got to love it.. when it comes to upgrading a computer for the customers. Some are so generous.. they just want anything money can buy even though the computer doesn’t need it. Such like the memory or rams we called it, they just want more put it.. so that everything would be at the top of the line.

Too Much Movies

For those who are not aware of this.. we do own our own video store in town. There is like 2 other video stores as well.. but ours charged the most reasonable in price. $3 a night .. for movies or games, older movies at $2 all tax included. We have both new releases .. and kept alot of old ones.. because alot of our customers comes for the old ones.

Today I had to go for a blood transfusion… and I realized that there are way too many movies we have in the store.. and yet. .i haven’t watched it. Sad eh..?? Yah.. indeed..! especially i get them for free. What movies have you watched lately..?? If you owned your own movie store.. would you rushed to watch all the new releases immediately..??

What Do Sellers Expect..?

This week .. is a week of entertaining walk ins who wants to sell stuff. Some called and wants to sell a 80 gig hard drive .. in which the man told him.. he would pay like $20 for it.. afterall, we sell them for new at $40.00 And the seller said.. no thanks.. and hung up the phone. Seriously, I wonder what these “sellers” expect ..?? how can we pay more than $20 for something that we pay $35 new..???  Seriously, i think the man was being very generous already.  Plus we are the one providing the warranty..to the next customer.. should we decide to purchase it.. and resell them. So where’s the logic.. in paying $30 for a used one..??
