Gem of Life Episode 16 .. bankruptcy .. in the west is really a joke here.  A business friend of ours.. who had gone bankrupt a couple of months ago.. already bought another car.. and is re-opening another business soon.  Spent a few thousand bucks on upgrading his parent’s place.. and babysitter everyday .. at their home. So yes.. everything is quite different here in the West.

My Gem Of Life Episode 8 is definitely a quick one to watch.  Our business is definitely far from what you watch in these Hong Kong TVB series.  Ours is definitely not so exciting .. and truth be told.. i doubt i am able to take that much excitment.. hahha!! can you imagine.. me jumping over the counter and smacking all these ppl in the show..??  yah..! if you donch know by now.. the famous word or sentence by this crazy chinese in Canada is.. “Where i come from.. we jump over the counter and smacked your head already” .. hahahha!! YUP..!! that’s what i tell my very ignorant and arrognant customers.  No fooling around with this crazy chinese .. helping the “ang moh” in his business.  Oh .. ok.. btw.. watch the real Gem of Life Episode 8 on my entertainment blog.  One has gotta find some form of entertainment right..?? since we missed home so much.

Gem of Life Episode 6 is what i was waiting to watch .. all weekend.  Finally..!! i get to watch here at the store.  The perks of owning your own business eh.  Well.. the joke is this.. and i always tell everyone.  We own a movie store.. meaning we rent movies… lots of movies… a few thousand at any one time… yet.. i can’t find the show that i want.  If TVB set up a chinese movie retailer thingie here.. i would be the first to apply to be their distributer.

As someone who owns your own video store.. we get to watch screeners.. and get free movies all the time.  The biggest movie supplier in Canada.. is about 4 hrs away from us.  The previous sales rep that we had was awesome.. but the current boss .. well.. lets say.. he was the one .. that we don’t do business with anyone.  Sad .. but someone who doesn’t keep to his end of the promise.. well.. you can imagine.. what we think of him right..??

The Gem of Life Episode 5 speaks a lot about retaining a company .. and how hard it is.. to keep one’s business from going bankrupt.. and we can relate to it.. of course.. owning our own movie store.  Say for example.. you pay like $30 for a movie.. and you rent it out for $3 (like we do) .. and the customer only rent it once.. and never came back with it (which happens a lot) .. then we lose $27 + taxes.. on top of having to make extra from the others.  It’s hard.. . i tell yer.. owning your own business. So yes.. !! i watch the Gem of Life.. anytime.. i get ahold of it.. too excited to wait till i go home. And if you want to watch it.. just hop over to my entertainment blog.

Owning your own store does have its perks.  One of them is being able to stay home with your kid.. if she was ill like the last two days.. and let the spouse work.  And the second one is watching all your chinese movies while working.  Of course that’s when we don’t have any customers in the store.

But what i liked most about owning your own store is being able to offer the foreign students here a taste of home.. like watching Moonlight Resonance and now Last One Standing tvb series.  We have foreign students from Hong Kong and China, so I would like to play mentor to them any time they have a need.  Being a video store.. but we don’t have chinese movies to rent them can be a real devastating thing.

I’m darn proud of myself lah..!! i found the Cantonese Version of Episode 37, 38, 39 & 40 (final episode) of Moonlight Resonance.  Owning a video store does not get any perks when it is in Canada eh.  I bet if i was in Vancouver.. now that would be a totally different story.  Anyhow, it is uploading NOW.. as we speak.. so check back on my entertainment blog for the LINK.  Woohoo..!!!  I’m just so glad i can share a little joy with the rest of you .. who cannot get to watch it . because you are overseas just like myself.  Enjoy eh..!

PS :  But donch be like me and watch Moonlight Resonance while working.  Else the boss wouldn’t like it .. mauhahah!! but since i’m owner by association.. i guess i get to do what i like eh.. 

You would think that owning your own video store.. gets you first hand on all the goodie movies right..? Well.. at first or in the beginning .. it was awesome. But like I said… i still love my chinese movies alot. Anyhow.. one expect the best.. from Johnny Depp and Chow Yuen Fatt right. I started to watch it.. and it was pretty good. If you haven’t seen octopus face.. this is your chance to. Watch it.. it’s pretty awesome..!

I’m done watching Romancing Hong Kong tonite.. and I still donch like Wong Hei..! so pimply face lah..! Even Aaron Kwok didn’t look that good too.. in this tvb show. But both the gals with him.. were very pretty. I think they are from China.. if i am not wrong. I think this tvb show is in cooperation with China and it’s actor and actresses. It really isn’t that bad.. but one still gotta wonder if Aaron is straight or not eh..? How can so handsome no g/f or wife leh..?? what a waste.. muahahah!!

Best Selling Secret must be the longest tvb series i’ve seen .. thus far. Can you guess how many episodes i’ve watched so far.. and it’s still going strong..?? 100?? 150??

Hahha!! nope.. 172 episodes so far..! yes.. i’m a Cantonese tvb series addict. Watching my cantonese shows are the most relaxing thing .. one can do.. when you are away from home. Cannot get home food.. then go for the second best.. movies from home.. and that itself does help a little.

All those away from home.. besides food.. what else do you do .. to cure that homesickness of yours..?? tell me ya..

I’ve been catching up on my tv series .. that opened it’s new season .. this fall. Although. .i had plans to watch it.. only when they are all done.. i couldn’t wait no more.. because i donch have any chinese shows lining up for me.

I think it is PB’s way.. of making sure.. i finish them soon.. muahahhaha!! But to date.. i’m caught up with Grey’s Anatomy, Desperate Housewives.. and Brothers and Sisters. I started with Everybody hates Chris… and Corner Gas (local production) .. but since they are comedy.. i prefer to keep them.. when i need cheering up.

One thing good about living in Canada is.. you get to watch all the season .. as soon as they air them in the States.. not like when i was back home.. while .. America is watching Season 5 of something.. I’ll only be in my 3rd season. So what about you ..?? what have you been watching..??

All the tv shows are back for a new season.. but i haven’t even started on any.. because i’ve been busy..! Busy with what..?? you ask… ? Busy with watching my chinese shows. Yes.. give me chinese shows anytime..! i love my chinese shows so much.. you cannot imagine.. what i would do .. just to chase after it.. for the next episode..and the next.

Donch get me wrong.. i love the english dramas too.. but if i had to choose.. i’ll have no choice but to choose my chinese ones.. so now you know where my loyalty lies right..! No chinese food nevermind.. but must have chinese shows..! else it would drive me nuts..!

This movie theatre in this town is pretty new.. only a few years old.. and having been in Canada for the last 7 yrs.. i’ve only been to a movie less than 10 times. Sad eh..?? At first was because the movie theatre was lousy.. and when they rebuilt and had a good one.. Chloe came along… and of course the darn business.. and no good ex-workers.. that we can’t really depend on. So no movies either. We finally went on Monday .. during Thanksgiving Monday for a show.. and the theatre didn’t disappoint except that the show wasn’t that focus. And at $9.50 a pop.. you’ll expect it to be a clearer picture eh.

Did i get your attention yet..?? So did she really go nude..?? Natalie Portman nude in Hotel Chevalier! You can see her ass & side boob. I hear you can even get to see abit of Natalie’s nipple in action on her second video. Sometimes you’ve gotta wonder if nude scenes are totally necessary..?? I donch really think so.. a good movie don’t need for anyone to be naked. What do you think..??

Over the weekend.. we heard from reliable sources.. that my competitor the neighbour got served with papers from good ole Microsoft for infringement of copyright. Yah.. we knew the neighbour was burning movies .. and games.. and whatnots.. but didn’t know .. he was putting in operating system for the computers that he sold.

In the 8 yrs of business.. PB and I are real cowards.. we would and could never do things.. that was against the law. After having Chloe.. we are even more paranoid.. because we didn’t want to land up against the law.. and leave Chloe without any care.. should something happen. We are very careful with what we do.. and even then.. we sometimes get one or two stolen goods in our store.. from ppl who comes in to sell them. No matter what precaution we take.. with buying and trading.. we still get the slip once in a blue moon. And that sends me flying off the edge.

I seriously salute my neighbour.. and a place that had already closed down .. the Circuits.. for being so brave to do unlawful stuff. For PB and I wouldn’t be able to sleep at nite.. wondering which nite.. will our home and store get raided… if we did. Nah.. no way.. we are gonna put ourselves in this position.

I was pretty surprised that Harry Porter film series made more money than James Bond movies. Afterall, James Bond movies have been around.. since i was a kid. But figure shows a $4.47 billion grossed.

Have you seen all the Harry Porter movies yet..?? I haven’t.. and i think i should start.. coz’ lots of blogging mummy said.. i should just watch the movie instead of reading the book. What do you think..??

Spoiler..!! watching the drive of life halfway.. and guess what..???!!! it took a twist..!!! I really hate it.. when everything is coming along perfectly.. and almost nearing the end of the story… and then this happens..!! yaks.. yaks..!! yaks..!!
