Toronto is a fascinating place .. and it’s HUGE! Well, it is the largest city in Canada. And for someone who had been to Toronto so many times both pleasure and work and yet still not familiar with alot of places, you can just imagine what I would have missed if not for the world wide web.

I’ve always dread whenever we go on a road trip.. and the man wants me to read the map for him. Firstly, I’ve got motion sickness, so reading a map in a moving car can be really taxing for someone like me. The next time we go on a road trip, I’m making the man invest on a GPS. I’m just no good at reading maps.

I told our employees that we were going to the Big Apple for a short trip .. because it was nearer to drive to New York than to go to Toronto for renewal of my passport as they have an embassy there for me to do it. Plus I can kill 2 birds with one stone.. by visiting my best friend who is in Connecticut.

Working in Asia’s representative office for the world’s largest telecommunication company in Spain, actually has it advantages. Our main office was in Spain and the factory was in Barcelona. The Spaniards are one of the warmest and friendliest people that I’ve met, they welcome you with open arms, into their homes and offices.

Nothing beats going for a vacation in Barcelona during the summer. The beautiful architectural and colonial style buildings are everywhere. The street performers, flower stores and side walk cafes and soaking in the sun. The beach parties are awesome. Barcelona Hotels are aplenty and when you in Barcelona, don’t forget to visit Gran Teatre del Liceu, every type of performance, from musical galas, operas and ballets to rowdy carnival dances, are held in this theater. Of course, there are the exquisite cuisine that you have to try.. and the nightlife for those who don’t sleep at night is awesome.  It’s easy to get around in Barcelona, just use the underground rail.  It’s the easiest way to get around most of the city and you can get on buses or suburban trains to reach other places, you want to visit.  Barcelona is a great place for not only the honeymooners and the romantics but for the family as well.

I was so looking forward to a vacation in Las Vegas with my girlfriends as we had such a great time, during a bachelorette party of our closest friend. Cheap hotel Las Vegas is to die for, especially when we get to have our “me” time. I wonder if all hotels in places where there are casinos are this cheap and nice. For the one that i had been to in Macau were just as grand and really affordable.. like the ones in Vegas.  So you can imagine my disappointment when the girlfriends wanted a change of venue this year.  I’m protesting..!

I’ve often wonder how people can go on vacation and even business trips without travel insurance. Really .. it is crazy.. to be honest! even if you are doing a guided tour thing, one should always get insurance. Firstly, you do not know what can happen in a foreign land, and secondly as careful as one might be, you cannot predict the unforeseen. Woohoo..! i had dim sum today..!! but of course nothing compared to the ones in Asia lah…!! but still beggars can’t be choosers.. so i IS the happy..!!

We’ve arrived after 5hrs of drive.  Not what had totally planned.. but we’ve eaten some tempura udon and inari sushi .. so far.  Bought alot of things for chloe.. after shopping for 3hrs at Halifax Shopping Center… and the hotel’s recept was great.. we upgraded the room for another 8 bucks… for a suite.  And it is damn hard to work on a laptop..  without a mouse.. and too long finger nails.

Firstly, you get away from everything.. and everyone.. and you are totally relax.. because you are right in the middle of nowhere.. and no one. You can do as much communicating with the land people or do nothing.. and blame it on poor communication system on the cruise.

Nothing really compares to our Asian hospitality when it comes to the service industries back home. And having been in the hotel industry for so long, I can boldly say .. i know it all. I was making reservations for our trip to the city, tried to get the best hotel rates… and started chatting with a few reservations people.

The Delta Barrington folks are the best..! And so is the Manager at the Econolodge. Unfortunately, I cannot say the same for the guy in reservations by the “Mark” from Future Inn. No way was he gonna negotiate with me… nor was he worried that his tone would offend me. His rate was final..! and that was it… a matter-of-factly. Even though I kept saying.. “donch you want to do my business..??, we will be your very regular customers.. in the future.” Nope..! no way..! he hung up on me..without saying “goodbye..have a nice day”
